Happy 6th Birthday to FourJaw!

Happy 6th Birthday to FourJaw!

Sheffield technology company FourJaw Manufacturing Analytics celebrated its sixth birthday this month, marking six years of growth, innovation and helping manufacturers make better use of their production data.

Founded in September 2020 by Chris Iveson, CEO & Co-Founder, and Robin Hartley-Willows, CTO & Co-Founder, FourJaw began life as a spinout from the University of Sheffield’s Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC).

The pair combined their manufacturing and software expertise to develop technology that would make machine monitoring and production data more accessible to manufacturers.

Today, FourJaw provides a plug-and-play manufacturing analytics platform that gives businesses greater visibility of their factory-floor operations, helping them identify lost production time, improve productivity and make more informed decisions.

The company has grown significantly since its launch and now works with manufacturers across a range of industries and international markets. FourJaw’s technology is designed to work with machines of different ages and brands, allowing manufacturers to collect and analyse production data without complex integrations.

The company’s journey has also remained firmly rooted in Sheffield. In 2025, FourJaw moved its headquarters to Pennine Five, taking 3,500 sq ft of space to support its next phase of growth. At the time, the company said its new headquarters would provide room to double its team as it continued its mission to transform manufacturing productivity.

From AMRC spinout to a technology business serving manufacturers globally

FourJaw’s story began at the AMRC, where Chris and Robin worked as research engineers. Their early work focused on unlocking data from manufacturing machinery and turning it into useful information for production teams.

The technology evolved into a scalable, plug-and-play solution designed to make machine monitoring simpler and more affordable for manufacturers.

The company has continued to build on that original ambition. Its platform now captures machine productivity and energy data and turns it into actionable insights, supporting manufacturers looking to improve efficiency, profitability and sustainability.

Chris Iveson, CEO and Co-Founder of FourJaw Manufacturing Analytics, said:

“Six years ago, Robin and I set out to solve a problem we had seen first-hand in manufacturing – businesses had huge amounts of data available to them, but often lacked a simple way to turn that data into meaningful action.

“It’s fantastic to look back at how far FourJaw has come since those early days at the AMRC. We’ve built a talented team, developed a technology platform that manufacturers around the world are using, and created a business that remains proudly based in Sheffield.

“There is still a huge opportunity to improve manufacturing productivity, and we’re incredibly excited about the next stage of FourJaw’s journey.”

Robin Hartley-Willows, CTO and Co-Founder, said:

“The original idea was always about making manufacturing data accessible and useful. Six years on, that ambition remains at the heart of what we do.

“We’ve learned an enormous amount from working alongside manufacturers and seeing the different challenges they face. That insight continues to shape our technology and our approach.

“Being part of Sheffield’s technology and manufacturing community has also been hugely important to FourJaw, and we’re proud to be continuing that journey from Pennine Five.”

Building Sheffield’s innovation community

FourJaw’s continued growth is also representative of Sheffield’s emerging technology and innovation ecosystem, bringing together the city’s strong manufacturing heritage with its growing digital and technology sectors.

Based at Pennine Five, FourJaw is part of a community of businesses operating across technology, digital, science and innovation-led sectors.

The company’s move to Pennine Five has provided additional room for growth while keeping its headquarters in the heart of Sheffield’s Innovation Spine.

As FourJaw celebrates six years in business, the company is looking ahead to the next phase of its development – continuing to help manufacturers unlock the potential of their machines, data and people.

Six years in. And the journey is only just getting started.
