Launch of Venture.Community’s hub within Pennine Five

A new workspace and support hub for early-stage businesses in deep tech, science and innovation has opened at Pennine Five in Sheffield, strengthening the campus’s role within the city’s Innovation Spine.

01 Silicon Square, a 4,500 sq ft innovation hub located within Block 3 at Pennine Five, has been developed by Venture.Community and provides capacity for around 100 people. The new hub combines flexible workspace with a programme of support, events and connections designed to help ambitious businesses grow.

The space includes co-working areas, private offices and event facilities, creating an environment where founders, operators and investors can connect, collaborate and share expertise.

Businesses already based at 01 Silicon Square include Latimer Tuition, SPL Strategies and TUBR.

Venture.Community has supported 15 companies to date, with those businesses collectively raising more than £23 million. The organisation also operates from a base at the Advanced Manufacturing Park in Rotherham.

Membership at Venture.Community gives founders more than access to workspace. Members can tap into a wider network of entrepreneurs, experienced operators, investors and business support, alongside opportunities to access funding, mentorship and international markets.

The community programme includes regular events designed to bring entrepreneurs together, including the Entrepreneurs Breakfast, which provides an opportunity for founders and business leaders to connect and share ideas, and Friday Breakthrough, a regular session focused on collaboration, knowledge-sharing and helping businesses overcome challenges.

Alongside its physical workspace, Venture.Community offers structured support programmes aimed at helping companies scale, secure investment and develop international opportunities. The organisation has already helped facilitate trade links for businesses with markets including the United States and Germany.

The launch of 01 Silicon Square has been supported by public and private sector partners including Sheffield City Council, South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority and RBH Properties.

Its arrival at Pennine Five adds a new dimension to the campus’s growing innovation community, providing a dedicated environment for early-stage companies while creating opportunities for collaboration with established businesses, investors and other organisations across the site.

Pennine Five is a landmark innovation hub forming part of Sheffield’s Innovation Spine, the city’s growing network of innovation-focused locations connecting businesses, universities, research, investment and entrepreneurship.

The development also supports wider regional ambitions to establish South Yorkshire as a destination for high-growth businesses, particularly across advanced technology, science and innovation, and to build a stronger pipeline of scalable companies capable of attracting domestic and international investment.

The opening of 01 Silicon Square represents another step in the development of Pennine Five as a place where businesses can start, scale, connect and innovate, bringing together emerging companies and the wider business community within one of Sheffield’s most distinctive innovation locations.
